Blue Ridge gets a face lift.

Well it's been long in  the planning but West Main Street in Blue Ridge Georgia is getting a long deserved face lift.  The rejuvenation began on East Main Street with the addition of wider brick sidewalks, street lights and benches.  These features really dressed up the store fronts directly across from the park and made the shopping experience much more pleasurable in that end of town. Now we are looking at a spruce up across the railroad tracks and at the hub of historic downtown Blue Ridge.  This has taken a few months but the final product makes our main focus of town special. The concrete work is complete and the final coat of asphalt is going down today.  Trees have been planted and benches set into place.  This spruce up didn't get the full brick sidewalks but did get brick accents to break up the concrete along with trees and flowers accenting the street.  Really looks great so if you get a chance come up to the mountains and watch the Scenic Railroad come and go, shop the antique stores or just grab a cup of coffee and enjoy the fresh air. Visit www.bestofblueridgehomes.com

The next fix up looks to be the depot where the train tickets and gift shop is.

Is the time right to purchase a second home cabin?

It seems that buyer traffic is picking up and those who have been looking for a cabin are getting serious about a purchase.  Is the time right?  Mortgage rates are almost the lowest we have seen in years and stable at 4%.  Real Estate prices are the lowest we have seen in many years, are they at the bottom? I don't see any way for the rates to go lower and as for prices except for the banks there is an amount where diminishing returns comes into play.  (Why sell at that low price we might as well keep it.) We have seen banks place there properties for sale at extremely low prices which creates a bidding war for a property and usually sells for more.  So properties here in the mountains do have a floor (dollar amount) and we seem to be at it or at least very close. I believe investors buy low and sell high so if this is the low then it makes sense.

Blue Ridge in the Spring? 4/5/12

Where did our Spring go?  Seems we went from Winter (mild) to Summer heat.  Oh and of course the extreme pollen count goes without saying. However Spring in the mountains brings the return of the Blue Ridge Scenic Railroad and all of their riders to town. This lets us know our season has started and our area comes alive. We also see a rise in the Blue Ridge lake water level. We have a thumbs up from the Corps of Engineers for the dam and the retention of water has started. This will make for a great year on the water for all visitors. Summer is around the corner when we will welcome all of the vacationing visitors to Blue Ridge.
